Tipperary athlete brings home Taekwon-Do Gold

The International Taekwon-Do (ITF) Irish team returned home from the All Europe Taekwon-do Federation Championships at the beginning of May with an impressive haul of 18 medals; 5 gold, 7 silver and 6 bronze. The Championships took place in Skovde, Sweden and Ireland finished fifth overall out of 29 countries with 27 on the Irish team including two members of the Tipperary Taekwon-Do club: Tiarnan Moriarty winning a Gold medal and Shaun Brennan who reached the quarter-finals.

Diarmuid Vaughan, St. Mary's Choral Society chairperson George Barry and Ruth Butler (programme editor) following the announcements of this year's AIMS Awards. The society's recent production of Jekyll and Hyde received three nominations - Best Actor (Diarmuid Vaughan), Best Ensemble (The Murder, murder scene from the show) and Best Programme. The winners will be announced at the AIMS Awards Ball on Saturday, 15th June in Killarney, which will be attended by over 1000 members from societies all over Ireland.

The Gooch offers advice to young Clonmel savers

In his role as youth ambassador for AIB, Kerry’s All Star footballer Colm ‘Gooch’ Cooper visited both Clonmel High School and Ss Peter and Pauls Primary School. Colm held a coaching session with the students at the High School, while in Ss Peter and Pauls he acted as referee in a football match. Afterwards he offered his support and advice for students involved in AIB’s Build a Bank Challenge and in savings overall.
