The final of the Cumann na mBunscol Roinn G football competition was played in Golden on Tuesday, February 9 between Clonoulty N.S. and Tankerstown N.S. The game was played in cold but dry conditions and the referee was Eamonn Browne.
Tankerstown were first to attack and scored two quick goals through Shane Ryan and Stephen O'Dwyer before Shane Ryan hit a great point with his left foot. Clonoulty then hit back with a point before Daire Egan was on hand to finish a great move with a fine goal. Just before the half-time whistle Clonoulty got another point and Tankerstown led at the break on a score of 3-1 to 0-2.

The second half was very entertaining with excellent scores for both sides and great defending by the backs and goalkeepers on both teams. Callum Fanning made some great interceptions for Tankerstown and he got great help from Kevin Lonergan and Eoin Kelly in front of him.

Daire Egan and Shane Ryan scored a goal each before Shane Power and Stephen O'Dwyer added two points. This brave Clonoulty team kept on trying however and they were rewarded with a goal and two points but then Shane Ryan hit his third goal and the scoring finished with a point from captain Shane Power. The final whistle heralded great celebrations for the Tankerstown team and the plaque was presented to captain, Shane Power by Mr O'Brien from Clonoulty N.S. The final score was Tankerstown N.S. 6-4 Clonoulty N.S. 1-4.
