Kickhams will be quite pleased with this victory in the West under-21 B football championship game at Sean Treacy Park, Tipperary on Saturday afternoon. It qualifies them for a semi-final place next weekend. It is fixed for 2 pm but may be moved beca
use of the replay in the Harty Cup final.
Kickhams raced into a three-point lead before Galtee Rovers reeled off four unanswered points from Darren O'Dwyer, Shane Egan (2) and Jamie Osborne, to lead halfway through the first half.
Then Kickhams took over once more to lead 0-8 to 0-4 at the break.
Early in the second half Galtee hit back with goals from Niall Daly and Bernard Fitzgerald to level the scores but Kickhams pulled away once more with a goal by Kenneth Horgan and a string of points while Bansha's only response was a Shane Egan goal.
In that second half Bansha were unlucky to have a goal disallowed for a square ball while they also missed a late penalty. However, in spite of scoring 1-7 for Kickhams, Kenneth Horgan was twice through to goal and blasted wide, so the winners also missed chances.
