Booking for the eagerly awaited Sweeney Todd opens next Thursday, February 11, at the Strand Theatre. Booking hours are 11am to 1 pm and 2pm to 5 pm daily and the booking team are ready to man - and woman - the booking, phones and credit card machine.
Sweeney Todd runs from Saturday, February 27 to Saturday, March 6 and tickets are €20, with concession €15 on Monday, March 1. Phone (051) 645050 and credit card facilities are available. Sweeney Todd is a huge production and, as is usual with Carrick Shows, booking will be very heavy so early booking is advisable.
Society patrons are responding, as usual, in great numbers to the annual Society appeal Society patrons subscribe €60 and receive two tickets to the production on February 28, or an evening of their choice, an invitation to the after-show reception in the Carraig Hotel on February 28th and an opportunity to book extra tickets for family and friends, before the official booking opens.
Old and new patrons are invited to contact Alice Hunt, Ballynob, Carrick-on-Suir at (087) 2905420/(051) 646210, Dick Meany, Meany's Shoes at (087) 9183813/(051) 640184, Alice Hennessy, Castle Park at (051) 640421 or any member of the Society. It's a brilliant way to help the Society finance major productions such as Sweeney Todd.
Meanwhile, rehearsals are going a bomb, with director Tony Finnegan back directing operations. On the musical side, musical director Fergal Carroll and chorus mistress Catriona O'Dwyer are delighted with progress on Stephen Sondheim's gigantic score. Sweeney Todd is going to be a brilliant theatrical event. Grab your ticket while you can.
The Society sends congratulations to Derek Ryan, playing the lead role of the Beast in Tipperary Musical Society's Beauty and the Beast all this week. Next week, Derek will be back to rehearse in Carrick, where he plays the part of evil Judge Turpin in Sweeney Todd.
