The Health Service Executive has plans for a new development in the grounds of St. Luke's Hospital in Clonmel. The 176 year-old hospital is scheduled to close at the end of this year, with the 96 remaining patients accommodated in community-based units at a total cost of €20 million.
The HSE has applied to the Borough Council for planning permission for the construction of a single-storey community mental health centre, comprising consultants suites and day activation area; a single-storey children's assessment and treatment unit, comprising consultants suites and therapeutic rooms; and associated site works, including a new internal boulevard with an off-street car park.

The proposed development will take place within the curtilage of a protected structure.
