Alcoholics Anonymous convention to take place in Clonmel
‘A bridge to normal living’ is the theme of this year’s Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) Tipperary Convention, which will take place in the Clonmel Park Hotel on August 26, 27,28 inclusive. The event is open to member of public on Friday 26 only, for an open meeting where speakers will talk about their experiences living with alcoholism. The remainder of the convention however is only open to people who already attend AA meetings; people who feel that alcohol is becoming an issue in their lives or family members who are concerned about the impact that alcohol might be having on the lives of a loved-one. There is one major AA convention in Tipperary each year but regular meetings also take place throughout the year in many parts of Tipperary. An AA open evening which is also open to members of the public will also take place in Silvermines just outside Nenagh on August 21 at 8.30pm, in the community hall.
There are 750 AA groups in Ireland with 13,000 members. Details of AA meetings are available on the website www.alcoholicsanonymous.ie
