Alza scheme draws to a close for Cashel Chamber
The last weekend in September will see the Alza voucher scheme come to a close in Cashel and traders are reminded that they must redeem any outstanding vouchers by October 5.
President of the Chamber, Sean Laffey, explained that the Alza scheme was an in-house rewards system run by the Johnson and Johnson Company and it pumped thousands of euro each year into local retail businesses. Alza of course are no longer a part of the Cashel economy and they have ceased to operate in Ireland. Consequently the time has come to close the voucher scheme, which, says Sean was a welcome boost to local business for a good number of years. “Not only that they gave their employees a incentive to shop in the town and that led to more customer loyalty from the Alza workforce,” he said.
The Chamber will meet in Mikey Ryans on Wednesday, October 3, at 6pm when traders can bring along any outstanding vouchers. Please note this meeting is a week earlier than the scheduled meeting.
“It is hoped that there will be some positive news about the Christmas lights and a Christmas tourism campaign on Wednesday,” said Sean Laffey. He told us that the town’s lights need a serious upgrade and plans are in hand to create something special for the whole of December 2012.
“We need all the business community on board for this, even if they are not members of the Chamber. It will be more than just lighting the town, every town does that these days, we have to add something extra too. We are looking at providing some activities on every weekend in December to keep people entertained and as the Credit Union says ‘Keep the Cash in Cashel!’”
