St Brigid’s hospice rooms official opening
The staff of St Brigid’s Hospital in Carrick-On-Suir are hosting an open afternoon and official opening of the hospital’s new hospice rooms on Sunday, October 21.
The people of Carrick-on-Suir are invited to share a cup of tea and slice of cake with the staff to celebrate the new building.
The open afternoon at the hospital will take place between 2pm and 6pm that day and the new hospice rooms will be officially opened by South Tipperary Hospice Committee at 5pm and they will be also blessed.
Parking space is very limited in the hospital grounds so people attending the event are requested to park their cars away from the hospital.
Brewery Lane play
Brewery Lane Theatre Group will stage Neil Simon’s play “The Odd Couple” at the end of November.
The group would appreciate some backstage help with the production.
If anybody wants to join the group and become involved in the production telephone Ann at (087) 2891 622. All are welcome.
Retirement Club meeting
Carrick-on-Suir Active Retirement Club had a very busy September with two fortnightly get togethers at the Nano Nagle Community Resource Centre and an evening in the Carraig Hotel courtesy of the Lions Club.
Club members also enjoyed a holiday break in Derry.
Next meeting is on Thursday, October 18.
Irish conversation night
A group from Conradh na Gaeilge Ciorcal Comhra, who wish to use their cupla focal and more will meet in the Old Mill, New Street every Wednesday a 8pm starting on October 17.
This should be of interest to anyone wishing to improve his or her conversation in Irish.

The exhibition will run until the end of October. Opening hours are 10am
to 5pm weekdays and 12noon to 5pm over the weekends. Admission is free and all
Ballyneale table quiz
Ballyneale Tidy Towns Committee is hosting a table quiz in the Village Pub this Friday, October 12 to raise funds for new projects to enhance the village for next year’s competition.
All are welcome and prizes for a raffle would be greatly appreciated. The quiz starts at 8.30pm.
Congrats to All-Ireland champions
Congratulations to the Tipperary Minor Hurling team and their Captain Bill Maher on winning the All-Ireland title.
Bill from Kilsheelan has strong local connections, as his late grandmother Statia Maher was a member of the O’Shea family Clashnasmuth in the parish of Carrick-on-Suir and Faugheen.
Statia’s three brothers Eddie, Tom and Michael O’Shea won numerous divisional dhampionships and the county championship in 1947 with the Swans.
