Camphill fundraisers
Carrick on Suir Camphill Community will host a coffee morning at its Castle Street premises on Sunday, March 10
to coincide with a vintage car run in aid of the Community.
The coffee morning will kick off at 10.30am and run until 12 noon.
All are welcome to come and view the range of vintage cars taking part in the event and enjoy the refreshments.
Youth Information Centre re-opens
Carrick-on-Suir Youth Information Centre has re-opened and is providing a range of free information and services to young people under the age of 25.
The Centre, located at 56 New Street, Carrick-on-Suir, provides information on education, training, careers, travel, emigration, leisure activities, social welfare rights and entitlements.
It also offers services like affordable Curriculum Vitae and typing for young people, free brochures, employment and education notice boards and photocopying.
Young people are invited to visit the Centre and have a browse, read the newspaper or just pick up a brochure.
It is open Monday, Thursday and Friday 9am to 3pm.
The Centre is also open during lunch hour, so second level students requiring any information on activities such as local clubs, music lessons or even grinds for exams should pop in and talk to staff. For more information contact the Centre at (051) 641946.
Cake sale
A cake sale in aid of the Katie’s Wish to Walk appeal will take place at the Step Up Studios in Carrick-on-Suir this Sunday, March 3.
The event is raising money for the campaign to raise E60,000 to send three year Katie Lonergan from Owning near Carrick-on-Suir to the United State for Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy surgery operation that will give her a chance to walk independently.
Katie has Cerebral Palsy Spastic Quadriplega.
The cake sale will take place after 12 noon Mass at St Nicholas Church at the nearby Step Up Studios located on the 2nd floor of the Fairgreen Supermarket premises. It is being organised by Zumbatomic Kids@Step Up Studios.

Nagle Centre courses
A refresher Occupational First Aid course will take place at Carrick-on-Suir’s Nano Nagle Community Resource Centre this Saturday, March 2 from 10am to 4pm.
Anyone who has an Occupational First Aid Cert due to be renewed three months before or after March 2 will qualify for this course.
There are also spaces available in the following courses due are to commence soon: Basic
First Aid, Cardiac First Aid, Sign Language and Introduction to Beauty Therapy.
Musical Society helps church building fund
Carrick-on-Suir Musical Society has kindly made tickets of its 100th production, “West Side Story”, available to the St. Nicholas Parish Building
Development Fund for sale with half the proceeds going to the Fund.
The tickets are for Tuesday, March 5 and cost €18. They are on sale at the Parish Office in the Presbytery, Castle Street from 9am to 5pm

Lenten celebrations
The Diocese of Waterford & Lismore’s Pastoral Renewal resource person, Sr Anne Codd, will be the guest speaker at next week’s Lenten celebration in St. Nicholas Church.
The theme of her talk that begins at 7.30pm next Wednesday, March 6 will be “Share the Good News”.
Geoffrey Meagher, National President of the St Vincent de Paul Society, speak at the Lenten celebration the following week, Wednesday, March 13. His topic will be “Reflection on the life and work of Blessed Frederic Ozanam, founder of the St. Vincent de Paul Society”. The bicentenary of his death is being celebrated this year.”
Philip McKinley, who formerly worked in Representative Church Body and is now with the Hard Gospel Project will speak on “Being a Christian Today” at the Lenten celebration on Wednesday, March 20.
The chosen themes for the speakers include prayers and readings. Music and hymns will complement the celebrations led by the St. Christopher’s Folk Choir and Suir Valley Folk Choir.
All are welcome to meet for refreshments in the sacristy area of the church.
