BALLINGARRY TIDY TOWNS
Judging can take place any time now. We don’t know when. We are looking for everyone to lend a hand. Please continue to be litter conscious. If it’s your litter, take it home with you. If you see rubbish on the ground, pick it up. If you see someone littering, check them in a nice way. Don’t wait for someone else to do it. We should all take responsibility for a cleaner environment.
FAMINE 1848 WALK
This year’s Famine 1848 Walk takes place on Saturday, July 28, at 3pm. The Walk will be led by parish priest of Ballingarry, Fr. Derry Quirke. The walk commemorates all those who died during the Great Famine and the 1848 Rising which took place in Ballingarry in the middle of the Famine. The rebel leaders were transported to Van Diemen’s Land. The Walk will begin at the National Flag monument in The Commons and proceed to the Famine Warhouse. The distance of 1 ½ miles will be covered at an easy pace and all are welcome to participate in this informal event or to gather at the house.
