ST.MICHAEL’S N.S.,CLERIHAN

The pupils of second class assembled in their local church to receive their First Holy Communion from Fr. O’Bric on Saturday, May 12. Music and singing were expertly provided by Ms.Howley and her lovely choir. Unfortunately, class teacher, Mrs. Fleming could not attend due to the death of her father on Thursday. However, we were grateful to call on the experience and expertise of Mrs. Condon, Deputy Principal, to lead the Communion children on this very special day. Many thanks to Fr. O ‘Bric for a lovely ceremony. Buíochas ó chroí to all who contributed to a memorable event in the school year. Sincere sympathy is extended to Mrs. Fleming and all her family on the death of her father, Denis.

Congratulations to all our children who took part in Community Games events recently and who represented our parish with pride. Well done to our medallists: Kayleigh Flannery, Amy Higgins, Liam Mc Grath, Lily Finch-Clements, Emma Wroblewski, Heather Barnett, Oisín O’Shea and Rosie Fitzgerald. Molaim sibh uilig. Also, molaim our pupils who played on the U12 football team who had a great victory over Fethard recently.

Well done to the club’s girls’ U14 footballers who defeated Ballyporeen in their last league match before the knockout stage of this competition. The game was played in bright sunshine in Clerihan on Monday, May 7. Clerihan, while once again not fielding a fullstrength outfit, fought off a very determined challenge before emerging victorious on a scoreline of 7-2 to 2-2.

Congrats to Mr. Fahey and sixth class who took part in Scríobh Leabhar, an Irish writing competition earlier this year. Molaim Cathal Ryan and Mairead Brown who were selected as prizewinners.
