FRANK WHARTON RIP

The death occurred recently, after a long illness, in Rathkeevan Nursing Home, of Frank Wharton aged 87. Frank is survived by his brother Paul and sister in law Theresa (Canada) and best friend of Cathy (Martha) and Tony Witney Clogheen. The funeral mass took place on Wednesday, August 22, in St John The Baptist Church, Duhill, followed by cremation in Cork. May his kind and gentle soul rest in peace.

CONGRATULATIONS CAOIMHE

Congratulations to Caoimhe Murphy O’Connor who came second overall in combined events showjumping and dressage at the RDS. Caoimhe is granddaughter of Michael and Eileen O’Connor, Clogheen.

LEISURE CYCLE

A leisure cycle of 40km and 65km will take place in Ballylooby on Sunday, September 2. Registration from 9am at the Community Hall. Cycle will start at 10am sharp. Entry fee €15. For further details contact John Byrne 0868476308 or Michael Burke 0866078961.

A gala day will take place in Duhill on Sunday, September 16, at Castlegrace cross.

LIVING WELL WITH ARTHRITIS

There will be a “Living well with Arthritis” course held n the Duneske Center, Cahir, starting on September 6, for six weeks. Information can be obtained from Arthritis Ireland 016470206.

FR SHEEHY’S JUVENILE GAA

U8 Hurling. Fr. Sheehy’s u8 hurlers are playing a blitz on Saturday, September 1, at Ballybacon/Grange’s club grounds in Goatenbridge. U10 Hurling. Fr. Sheehy’s played a blitz for Clogheen festival weekend at Fr. Sheehy Park with teams from Ballylooby, Skeheenarinky and winners Rockwell Rovers. U12 Hurling. Hard luck to the u12 hurling team who bowed out of the Premier Games in a playoff against Cahir B recently. U14 Hurling. The combination u14 hurling team Fr. Sheehy’s/Newcastle have reached the championship semi final.
