ST MARY’S NATIONAL SCHOOL

Because of the recent budget proposals, the school is trying to make a case for the retention of our existing teacher number. Would all those who are interested in sending their children to St. Mary’s in September contact the school as soon as possible to fill out an enrolment form. These forms will need to be filled out before February 20.

KNOCKMEALDOWN WALKING CLUB

A very successful walk took place in Goatenbridge last Sunday. This Sunday, February 19, we will meet at Shanrahan Cemetery car park Clogheen at 10am. Please bring suitable footwear and clothing. For further information contact David Slattery 086 2808188.

MOTORCYCLE ROAD RACER

Tommy Heaphy, Ballyporeen, will hold a get together and fundraiser in Kilcoran Lodge Hotel on Saturday, March 3, at 9pm. Tommy is South Tipp’s only road racer. Come along to Kilcoran with free entry to live music and DJ, a raffle will take place on the night. Please support.

KNOCKMEALDOWN ACTIVE ‘DEMO & DINE’

Knockmealdown Active would like to invite you to “Demo & Dine” Cookery Demonstration & Tasting Evening on Wednesday, February 29, at 7.30pm in Cahir House Hotel, Cahir, Co Tipperary. Hosted by Bord Failte Head Chef JJ Healy, the evening will consist of a series of cookery demonstrations by top local chefs, including: Dermot Gannnon from The Old Convent, Clogheen, Eileen Condon Catering, Newcastle, Noel Coady, The Hermitage, Clogheen, Peter Greene, Cahir House Hotel. Each chef will prepare a number of courses, using locally-sourced ingredients, with tasting samples for everyone in the audience and recipes available to take home.

FUTURE OF SMALL SCHOOOLS

Deputy Mattie McGrath is holding a public meeting in relation to concerns raised about the future of small schools on this Thursday night, February 16, at 8.15pm in Cahir House Hotel, Cahir. Ms. Breda Fitzgerald, Principal Newtown NS will address the meeting.

Cheltenham Pick the Winners

Its that time of year again when Clogheen Playground Committee invite you to ‘Pick the Winners’. Entry fee is still only €30! You select one horse each day from each of the first 4 races only, from Tuesday March 13th to Friday March 16th inclusive. Points are allocated as follows; a winner will get you 100 points, a second placed horse will get 60 points and third 40 points. First prize is €1,000, 2nd prize €300 and 3rd prize is €200. There is also a daily prizewinner of €100. Tickets are available from any committee member. In 2011 the committee spent over €6,000 on upgrading the cameras, on maintenance and also refurbishing some of the equipment. As this is the committee’s only fundraiser we would again ask for your support as we would be unable to maintain the playground without available funds.

Duhill Dramatic Society:

The society’s A.G.M will take place on Friday 17th Feb in Duhill Hall at 9 o’clock. All members are requested to attend.

Brian Borus Football:

Training for u14s and u16s will take place in Ballylooby pitch on Sunday morning 12th Feb at 11.30.
