After receiving feedback from last year’s barbecue, the main request was a family day on a Sunday so this year we have done just that on the day after the barbecue. Sunday, June 24, at 1pm. Along with the music and a barbecue, there will be a selection of bouncy castles and slides, and a first for Galbally will see a Reptile Zoo roll into the village. All are welcome.
For most sports clubs the last thing on their minds at the moment would be further development but that is not the case in Galbally where the local soccer club continue to upgrade their facilities.
To add to their existing playing pitch, dressing rooms and all weather pitch additional land had been purchased and works have begun on a second playing pitch to cater for the large amount of underage players within the club.
To make such plans for the future will require great fundraising efforts and the club host their Second Annual Family Fun day on Sunday, June 17, in Galbally Community Field commencing at 12noon and concluding at 5pm.
The organisers are confident that there will be lots to do on the day for all the family and some of the activities include:Underage Soccer Matches Boys and girls; Underage Athletics Racing from 1pm; Galbally Bale Rolling Competition; Supervised Bouncy Castle, Obstacle Course & Sumo Wrestling; Face painting; Sponge Throwing; Cross Bar and Targets Challenge & Penalty Shootout; Golf; Challenge & Long Puck Competition; Wellington Throwing; Egg and Spoon Race; Guess The Weight; Hammer & Nail Contest; Clothes Peg Challenge; Skittles.Various new events this year including Cube Challenge. Live music will be supplied by local DJ Jonathon Scully throughout the day.
Our shop and food stand will be serving refreshments and hot food throughout the day. Also enjoy our large selection of cakes, buns, teas and coffees. Admission €5 per family.
