G.A.A: The Junior “A” Hurlers will begin their campaign when they take on St Patricks on Sunday June 10. The Club has put in its planning application for proposed development works and if anyone has any queries please contact any committee member.
Thanks again to all those who renewed their membership of the County Draw and those who joined for the first time. The first draw takes place this Friday night and we hope we will record some winners as this year there are 25 cars and wonderful cash prizes on offer. Best of luck to everyone.
JUVENILES: Congrats to Kilcash NS on winning the South Final of the Cumann na mBunscoil Hurling in Cashel with a victory over Ballagh.
The replay of the South Final in the U/12 Premier Games Football competition took place in Kilsheelan when their opponents were Clerihan.
At half time the scoreline read at 0-4 to 0-2 in favour of Kilsheelan. The home side got off to the best possible start to the second half, with Jason Madigan scoring a well taken goal. In a game that was always going to be close, whoever could hold their nerve in the closing minutes would see victory. Kilsheelan goalkeeper Zach Crotty, put his body on the line to keep his team in it. The rest of the team drew inspiration from his heroics and ran out winners by 1-9 to 1-5.
Accepting the plaque from Juvenile South Secretary Kieran Hogan captain for the night Brian Flavin thanked Clerihan for a great match. A well deserved South Title goes to a very committed and hardworking group of players.
The U/14 Football team who put up a great display against Ballingarry in the Semi Final of the championship were in hard luck not to come away winners on the night. Hurling championship is just around the corner so we ask all involved to practice at home and come to the field for training nights. A special Best of Luck to all our members who began their exams on Wednesday. KILLURNEY SPORTS & SOCIAL CLUB: Despite the inclement weather last weekend the cake sale was a great success. We hope you enjoyed indulging in a few extra calories while supporting the Club for which we thank you all sincerely. Thanks also to all who provided goodies and helped in the sale. Please note that the historic walk is now rescheduled for June 21st - the longest day - so hopefully the skies will be clear. More details later.
KILSHEELAN PRE SCHOOL: This new venture will open in September in the KPLAN community rooms on Monday-Fridays, from 9.30am-1pm. Free ECCE places available. Fun and Learning provided in a safe environment, please contact Barbara on 087 632 8769.

SCRAP METAL COLLECTION: A scrap metal collection will take place on Friday June 22 and Saturday 23. We appeal to all households and business entities to donate any unwanted scrap iron which they may have on their premises. Please bring any scrap metal as in radiators, gates, wire, boilers, cookers, copper cylinders and copper pipes, machines, engines, cars etc to the KPLAN Community Centre. The community hope to turn your unwanted scrap iron into cash. It is intended that the Scouting movement will be the main beneficiaries and donations will be made to Killurney and Kilcash. This is an ideal opportunity to encourage everyone to clean up their own areas and at the same time raise funds for your community. Any type of metal will be accepted, if anyone requires collection kindly contact Ed at 087 6368260. No gas cylinders or tyres can be donated. We look forward to your co-operation.
GRANTS: Welcome news for all community/sports groups as there are some grants available at present, closing dates are fast approaching, please enquire as your voluntary group may qualify for assistance. Anyone involved with KPLAN will kindly point you in the right direction.
COMMUNITY ALERT: Disappointingly we bring to your attention some break-ins in the local community in recent times, the latest a house in Kilsheelan village in broad daylight. A car was also broken into outside the church in Gambonsfield during the daily Mass and heating oil has been robbed from the Church, Kilcash school and others. You may have seen something unusual and not considered it important but please bring any movement out of the ordinary to the attention of the gardai.
PARISH DIARY - OLD GRAVEYARD MASSES: As usual Old Kilsheelan graveyard Mass will be on the Feast of the Sacred Heart (June 15th) at 7.30pm. The Old Kilcash graveyard Mass will be on Friday June 22nd (Eve of the Feast of St John the Baptist at 7.30pm.) Our mass in Burntchurch will be on Thursday July 26th - the Feast of Joachim and Anne. We would invite the committees of the other old graveyards to get in touch to arrange a suitable day and date for the annual Mass. I.E.C. JUNE 10 - 17: Our diocesan and parish day at IEC will be Thursday June 14. Only a few bus tickets, which are sponsored by the parish, remain to be taken up. People who have handed in their names will be fully informed re arrangements, such as departure time and place of departure for the bus and what to expect in Dublin. The main events will be the Mass at 4pm. Preceded by a welcoming address by the Bishop. There are lots of workshops as well as talks, exhibition etc. I am assured there will be plenty of stalls in the ground for meals and a cuppa etc. Please check the IEC website www.iec2012.ie for details of what is happening on the day.
