BAPTISMS
We welcome into the Christian community, Cliodhna Grace Pearson, Sophie Kelly-Gorey and Isabella Mai O’Donnell who were baptised in Powerstown last weekend and we congratulate their parents Alan and Sinead, Christopher and Roisin, and Kieran and Joanna.
SYMPATHY
We extend our sympathy to the family of James Fee, Mylerstown, especially to his sons Shane, Dominic, Pat, Liam and Martin, to his daughters Geraldine and Laura, his grandchildren, relatives and friends.
We extend our sympathy also to Fran Sheehan on the death of her brother Tony Hume, Boston.
We extend our sympathy to the family of GwenNoonan, Lisnaturbrid, especially to her husband Michael, family and friends. As Gwen was our Parish organist for many years a special mass will be celebrated in Powerstown church on Saturday, February 25, at 3pm.
EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS
The Waterford and Lismore special day at the Congress will be June 14. A white booking form is at the back of the churches for anyone intending to travel for this special event. Cost €E30. The cost of the bus to the event will be sponsored by the parish. Forms must be returned to the parish before March 17. Those interested in travelling for the final event in Croke Park, on June 24, must also fill a blue form which must be returned before March 17. Those interested must let us know before February 24, Cost €E10.
ASH WEDNESDAY
Ash Wednesday take place on Wednesday, February 23. Mass and blessing of ashes in Powerstown at 10am. Mass and blessing of ashes in Lisronagh at 7.30pm. Trocaire boxes will be distributed by the envelope distributors.
RATHKEEVIN I.C.A
The next monthly meeting will take place on Wednesday February 15 at 8p.m. Catering are the carnation group. Competition for this meeting is a valentine card. Guest speaker will be Paddy O’Keeffe. Hope all members can attend.

DID YOU KNOW?
Did you know that in the 1928 to 1930 period Dick Walsh of Tubradora fame one of the three Walsh Brothers who played senior hurling for Tipperary bought a farm in Graigue, Clerihan and started a team of his own. This team only lasted a short time and some of the players from this team joined the Moyle Rovers. Some of the players were Jim Egan, Maurice Flannery, Jack O Donnell,and Andy Moloney. This team went on to win the county junior football championship in 1931. They defeated a combination of Ballyneale and Carrick United in the South Final on a score of 2-2 to 0-1. They defeated mid Tipperary in the county Final by 2-5to 1-0. Members of that team were as follows:Ned, James & Paddy Murphy, Dick Lonergan, Pat & Mick Markley, Maurice Flannery, Wm Quinlan, Jim Egan, John McGrath, Wm Burke, Pat Hannon, Andy Moloney, Jack O Donnell, Mick Fahey, Willie Lonergan, Wilile Bergin. Imagine the achievement, just within three years of being formed, The Moyle Rovers team were crowned county junior Champions. Having won the county junior championship the Moyle Rovers were now playing in the Senior Football championship in 1932. Little did they know as the time but it took another almost 60 years before the Moyle Rovers would win their first south senior championship which happened in 1991.
