Free diabetes education programme

A free six-week long education programme for people with Type 2 Diabetes will commence at the Public Library, Carrick-on-Suir next Tuesday, September 4 at 10.30am.

South Tipperary HSE dietitians are delivering this X-PERT award winning programme, which aims to inform people about their diabetes and enable them to better look after their condition.

The education programme has been set up due to the increase in Type 2 diabetes globally in recent years.

Lifestyle issues such as excess weight, alcohol, diet, smoking, inactivity and lack of exercise are crucial to managing the problem. Some people may be unsure about attending a group session but feedback to date has been very positive and participants get a handbook of information.

For further information on the Diabetes education programme telephone the HSE Health Promotion Department at (052) 6188293.
