Sun shines on Cahir’s biggest and best parade!

This was definitely the largest St. Patrick’s Day Parade that has taken place yet in Cahir. Crowds started gathering before 11am in Woodview and once the parade started it took almost an hour to pass through the town and past the viewing stage on the Square.

Cahir Credit Union once again played a major role in this popular event by sponsoring the parade. The chosen theme for this year was ‘The Gathering’ and there was a fantastic range of costumes and floats bursting with colour, all reflecting the theme. Crowds lined the streets to catch a glimpse of relatives participating in the parade and there were also many visitors to the town which all added to the happy atmosphere. Most importantly, the rain held off and the crowds were treated to some lovely spring sunshine.

Prizes were given for the Best Individual Youth; Best Individual Adult; Best Float on Theme; Best Youth Organisation and Best Industrial Float. This all added to the excitement on the day. Well done to all the participants.

There was a marvellous sense of occasion and community spirit. The parade was lead by Cahir and Carrick on Suir Brass Bands and C.J. Kickham Band from Tipperary town.

Mr. Denis Hartnett, Manager of Cahir Credit Union and President of the Irish League of Credit Unions Chapter 10 congratulated all who took part this year, he also thanked Mr. Gerry Duffy, MC. DJ Will, Cahir Garda and Cahir Red Cross for their support.
