Swan Club seeking volunteers for flag day collections

Carrick Swan U-21 hurlers lost to Mullinahone in a second round South Championship game last Saturday after a most entertaining. Final score was 3-15 to 0-13.

The team now enter the losers’ group section of this competition and hope to progress from there.

Carrick Swan Club hosted an U-12 hurling blitz on The Green last Sunday. The visiting teams included Clonea, Ballingarry and Kilsheelan. All the players had an enjoyable morning of hurling and all who took part were presented with a medal.

The Club thanks those who helped out on the day with field preparation, catering, refereeing and all the competing teams’ players and mentors.

The annual general meeting of Carrick Swan GAA Club will take place on Friday, November 23. In advance of the meeting, nomination papers for the election of officers and motions for proposal at the agm are now available online on the Swan Club website or from any committee member.

Carrick Swan’ annual flag day collections will take place on Friday and Saturday, November 9 and 10. The Club will require many helpers over the two days and asks those available to give their names, and the time they are available, to any committee member as soon as possible. Adult players are especially reminded that their help would be appreciated.

Numbers drawn in last week’s juvenile lotto draw were 1, 15, 19 and 21. There wasn’t any winner of the jackpot prize of €5,500 and five players matched three numbers to win €40 each.

Carrick Swan Club thanks all those who continue to play the Juvenile Lotto and reminds those who might like to join that weekly entry costs €2 and this can be paid to any committee member, or to any lotto promoter, who will call to collect the money each week. This week’s jackpot prize is €5,750.

The public’s continued support helps it provide for all its juvenile players and is very much appreciated by all in the Swan Club.

The Club wishes Colin Waters from the minor hurling team a speedy recovery from a serious hand injury he suffered last week. The Club hopes to see him back in action after he recovers over the winter months.

Many Swan players are participating with their school and college teams at the moment. The Club compliments all the schools on their continued promotion of gaelic games and wishes all players the best of luck.
