CountryLife Garden & Pet Centre at Dove Hill in Carrick on Suir has been selected as one of Ireland’s top 100 stores in the Retail Excellence Ireland Store of the Year Competition.

The Retail Excellence Ireland awards seek to drive excellence by recognising the best in Irish retailing. The Retail Excellence Ireland Awards are the largest, most prestigious and recognised event in the Irish Retail Industry calendar. The objective of the Awards is to recognise and reward retail stores, companies, websites and individuals who deliver continuous and exemplary standards within the Irish retail industry.

CountryLife Garden Centre opened in the Dove Hill Irish Design Centre in June 2011 and in its first year or operation has already been awarded a prestigious 4-star award in the Bord Bia Amenity & Horticulture Awards. In addition to the 4-star garden centre, the store also features an extensive pet centre with live pets, an extensive range of pet care products and a giftware department. The store has recently opened the ‘Inspirational Gardens’ and children’s play area. The gardens are free to the public and showcase a selection of low maintenance garden design suggestions, a community vegetable garden, a koi fish pond, resident chickens and a wildflower garden.

Store manager Gillian O’Regan said she is delighted with the accolade, “Our team here are incredibly customer focused and it’s fantastic to have that recognised in the Store of the Year assessment. Our head horticulturist Malachy Doherty personally designed and supervised the build of our Inspirational Gardens over the last six months and all the hard work has paid off. Feedback from our customers has been extremely positive and parents especially appreciate the children’s playground. We’re getting ready for the second stage of the competition now, the competition is stiff but we’re planning to bring the overall Store of the Year award to Carrick on Suir this year.”

The store will now progress to the next stage of the awards process, with a detailed store assessment to take place over the coming weeks. Ireland’s Top 30 stores will be announced on 10th August and the overall winners announced at the awards ceremony on November 3.
