The Festival Dog Show takes place again this year at 3.30pm on Sunday 23rd by the Town Wall. The Dog Show has proved very popular in previous years - with young and old alike - so it is a great bit of family fun and with a competitive edge thrown in for good measure. All the usual class prizes will be up for grabs again this year: (1) Best Large Dog, (2) Best Small Dog, (3) Dog You Would Like To Take Home, (4) Best Groomed Dog, (5) Best Tail Wagger, (6) Best Dog in Medieval Attire, and (7) Best Dog in Fancy Dress.

As in former years the Valley Park by the old Town Walls will come alive with Re-enactments, Archery, Children’s Activity Tent, Crafts, Dunking tank, Coin Striking, Stocks and a special treat ‘The Mad Hatter Magic Show’. Humpty Dumpty will also pass by this year and vicious Celtic Warriors will also rampage about the place and Wobbly Circus will entertain the children as in former years. A forge will operate and a stonemason will demonstrate his ancient craft that built the walls in the first place.

Tipperary school students secure golf scholarships

There was great excitement at the winners’ presentation of the 2013 / 2014 Junior Golf Scholarship at Ballykisteen Hotel recently. In conjunction with the Ballykisteen Junior Golf Club, the hotel sought applications from boys and girls junior golf enthusiasts from over thirty local primary schools between the ages of 7-13 years. This cumulated in the final winner’s presentation of the scholarships at a ceremony in Ballykisteen Hotel & Golf Resort.

Co-op Tipperary Festival back by popular demand

Last year’s Tipperary Co-Op Tipperary Festival saw the whole county join in the festivities, to celebrate the centenary of the iconic song “It’s a long way to Tipperary”. The Festival attracted thousands of visitors to the area, where the streets of Tipperary town were transformed into the early 1900s, with a festival packed full of nostalgia, music, art and heritage.  Tipperary Festival organisers, today announced that Tipperary Co-op have come back on board as sponsors of this Festival which this year will take place from 4th to 14th July.

Planning permission gained for Fethard Town Hall/Thosel

Last Tuesday, May 14, Fethard Business and Tourism Group received the wonderful news that South Tipperary County Council and the Department of the Environment have accepted the planning application for the renovation of Fethard Town Hall. This means that full planning permission for the refurbishment and reuse of the building has been accepted and endorsed by the ‘powers that be’.
