Chamber of Commerce festive fun programme
The Tipperary Chamber of Commerce’s message for this Christmas is: “Let’s have a great Christmas in Tipperary Town.”
There will be free ‘off-street’ parking in town every Saturday in December and all of the weeks up to Christmas Eve, but remember, you must be legally parked. TIRD/Chamber of Commerce would like to acknowledge Tipperary Town Council’s support.
Events for Tipperary Town for the festive season
November 23 – Switching on of the Christmas lights between the two banks on Main Street. This will include a live radio broadcast from Tipperary Mid West Radio with interviews from some of the Christmas vouchers winners and local business owners. Santa and his elves arriving on his sleigh, carol-singing from the T.R.Y.S festive group and kids entertainment such as Wizard Woo, balloon animals and face painting. Sweets and goodies will be handed out on the day.
December 1 – Musical entertainment from the Tipperary Gospel choir between the banks on Main Street between 2pm and 4pm. Live broadcast from Tipperary Mid West Radio with interviews from some of the Christmas vouchers winners. Paulo the Pirate to entertain children in a marquee between banks with face painting, balloon making, Christmas colouring competition on the day and lots of pirate antics. Sweets and goodies will be handed out to kids on the day.
December 8 (Super Saturday) – The lighting of the Christmas tree in the Co-op Supervalu car park will take place at 4.30pm. Santa with his sleigh will attend for pictures and fun. Tipperary Singers will perform festive carol singing on the day. Tipperary Mid West will broadcast live outside the Co-op Supervalu with interviews from Christmas vouchers winners. Santa’s elves will hand out balloons and sweets to all the children. Also on that day is a Christmas Fair in The Excel. This is on from 10am to 4pm, with children’s craft making on the day.
December 15 – The Tipperary Musical Society will sing Christmas carols between the banks on Main Street from 2pm to 4pm. Wizard Woo will put on a magical kids show in the marquee with free sweets, face painting and balloon making on the day. Outside broadcast from Tipperary Mid West Radio with interviews from Christmas vouchers winners and local business owners on the day.
December 16 –There will be an Ecumenical Service in St. Mary’s Church to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the first joint ecumenical service between St. Mary and St. Michael’s churches at Christmas. RTE will be there to film the celebration on the day.
December 17 to 24 - A Christmas Tree Festival at St. Mary’s Church from 2pm to 4pm.
