A Clonmel model could be the next ‘Face of Europe’.

Kate Power has reached the final thirty out of an entry of 5,000 in the ‘Face of Europe’ beauty pageant which will be held in Paris in November.

The PR student will eventually fulfil a childhood dream of visiting Disneyland as that is where the ‘Face of Europe’ winner will be revealed.

“I am so excited, I always wanted to go to Disneyland when I was younger so it’s great to get the opportunity to see it now,” said Kate, a daughter of Conor and Ella Power Ardgaoithe, Clonmel.

Kate has completed her degree in Visual Communications at Arts College in Limerick and has just started a Masters in PR and Media in Cork.

She had put her modelling career on hold because of the demands of college but decided to enter this competition when she realised a trip to Disneyland could be on the cards.

“I am very excited now about the competition and thrilled to reach the last thirty,” said Kate, who was on the Celia Holman Lee books in Limerick for modelling work.

The ‘Face of Europe’ competition is in its second year and Kate received notification that she had come through the heats over a week ago.

For the final round of judging Kate will travel to London and then Paris in November as the competition reaches a climax.

Kate is also involved in raising funds for ‘Bri” Ireland, which supports people recuperating from brain injury, and is hoping people will support two events. A table quiz will be held in Fethard on September 28 at 8pm at Butlers Sports Bar and the other is in Clonmel, a gig night at Gleesons, on the following night.

Kate is the youngest in a family of two. She has an older sister Jyll.
