“Kembali -Return of The Mystic” will have readers hooked from page one
Dr M Jan has published his first novel "Kembali-Return of the Mystic" and will release his second book "Kembali-Into Unchartered Waters in March.
“Kembali-Return of the Mystic” is the debut novel of well known acupuncturist and medical doctor, Dr M. Jan, who lives near Carrick-on-Suir, and has many patients throughout South Tipperary.
The book, which is the first in a trilogy, follows the adventures of Ah Jan, a teenager from a wealthy family in Singapore, who becomes a mystic and gets up to all kinds of magical escapades following his final exams.
The action packed plot brings him to the heart of the jungle, the other world of Hari Kong and other fantastical places, fighting villians and doing good while he pieces together the story of his former life as a Japanese soldier killed in Burma in World War 11.
It’s a thoroughly entertaining, humourous and fast paced read that will hook you from the first page.
Dr Jan’s writing style is beautifully simple and he draws strongly from his experiences growing up in Singapore, his knowledge of the jungle and his interests in martial arts and Asian sword weaponry to provide a fascinating insight into his native land, its culture and mythology.
In the foreword, he aptly describes his book as a “semi-autobiography, written with a huge dollop of fantasy, and a large pinch of mischief”.
“Kembali-Return of the Mystic” is self-published by Dr Jan but this reviewer will be surprised it if’s not snapped up by a major publishing company.
Dr Jan lives at Pouldrew House just off the Carrick-on-Suir to Kilmeaden Road and “Kembali-The Return of the Mystic” was formally launched at The Book Centre in Waterford City just before Christmas.
The function was attended by a large crowd of friends as well as former and current patients of Dr Jan from all over the region.
“Kembali -The Return of the Mystic” is available from The Book Centre in Waterford as well as in Kindle form through www.amazon.co.uk and e-book.
Dr Jan’s second novel, “Kembali-Into Unchartered Waters” will be available from The Book Centre in Waterford in March, and he has now started work on his third book.
