Claire Moylan appears in Hannah Burke's play 'The Duke of What's It', which will be presented by the Stagecraft youth theatre company at The Hub, Albert Street, Clonmel from Wednesday, May 16th to Saturday, 19th.

The team at Stagecraft youth theatre company are in the final phase of rehearsals for their summer season of productions. ‘The Duke Of What’s It’ is a hilarious new play by Hannah Burke and runs from Wednesday, May 16 to Saturday, 19 May at The Hub, 49, Albert Street, Clonmel.

‘The Duke Of What’s It’ was written for the young people and will have its world premiere in Clonmel. This epic adventure has numerous twists and turns and is performed with great gusto by the young actors at Stagecraft. There is a huge range of characters in this quirky, funny play - Simon, better known in the kingdom as ‘The Duke Of What’s It; Princess Gosia; The King; Private Humpty and The Matchmaker.

Hannah Burke is Stagecraft’s writer in residence and has done a great deal of work for its members including last year’s Christmas sensation ‘The Snowqueen’.

Stagecraft was founded in 1998 by current artistic director Shane Dempsey. It has established a long tradition of providing young performers with the highest standards of training and this is encouraged in a fun, non-pressured environment where the young people can truly blossom.

Shane says “Its a truly exciting time for Stagecraft as we moved into our new space, The Hub, last September and have been gradually transforming it into a studio theatre. We are also launching our agency as we have been approached by numerous casting directors and so have decided to have a platform for our members to work in professional theatre, film and TV. This year’s season of plays promises to delight and I am eager to see all the hard work paying off”.

‘The Duke Of What’s It’ will be the first production of this year’s season of plays at The Hub, 49, Albert Street, Clonmel, a new rehearsal and studio theatre. Over the coming weeks it will host a delightful double bill, ‘Sleeping Beauty and Porky Pies’.

Next up is ‘Festival’ by Alan King and finally ‘Dragon Chaser’.

Tickets at €10 are now on sale for ‘The Duke Of What’s It’ at Premier Music, O Connell Street, Clonmel.
