Third time lucky for Essex girl Lynn
It was a case of third time lucky for Essex singer/songwriter Lynn Holland, as she beat off very strong competition to win the 2012 Tipperary International Song of Peace in Tipperary on Saturday July 7. A finalist in 2008 and 2010, it was victory on the third attempt for Lynn with her song entitled “Who will bring in the light?” and performed before a full house at the Tipperary Excel Centre in Tipperary Town. Scoring 40 marks out of a possible 50, Lynn was awarded the Tipperary Song of Peace Crystal Trophy and a cheque for €1,500. Lynn was the only finalist from England with the others hailing from the USA and from Ireland North and South.

Lynn’s song was a very popular winner on the night and was performed again by her at a special Ecumenical Service for Peace at St. Mary’s Church, Tipperary on Sunday July 8.
The Best Irish Entry in the contest went to a song composed by Caitriona Kenny from Tipperary Town titled “Peace be with Me”, which was performed by well known local singer Marji Maxwell. Caitriona was awarded the Mick Tuohy Perpetual Cup and a Tipperary Crystal Trophy.
