Nine young people from Carrick-on-Suir have made a hard-hitting short film on the topic of bullying.

“FORever NOW” deals with issues such as family, friendship, bullying, stress among young people, alienation and the ultimate triumph of the human spirit and was launched at the Brewery Lane Theatre on Saturday, February 9.

It is directed by London-based Clonmel man, Shane Dempsey and was made over one week in November last year.

The film makers worked intensively together devising a script, casting the film, rehearsing and shooting the film in seven days.

The young people involved are members of the Foróige Neighbourhood Youth Project and Brewery Lane Theatre Youth Group, and included Jack Murphy, Patrice Cooney, Ian Cleary, Jonathan Walsh, Saoirse Houlihan, George Broadbank, Alex Sheehan, Kashan Ali and Rehan Ali.

Brewery Lane actress, Emma Comerford, played the role of the Mum in the film.

The group was assisted by Foróige volunteer Treasa Smith. Editing was completed in London by Ropu Chen and original music was devised by Cedric Fangeat.

Foróige and the Brewery Lane Theatre co-ordinated the film project, which was funded by INTERREG ‘Blue and Green Futures’ as part of the CONNEX South Tipperary County Council Youth Arts Programme.
