Get your walking gear in action for next Sunday’s Cystic Fibrosis fundraiser
The Annual 10K Walk in aid of Cystic Fibrosis will be held on Sunday 13th May. The walk is in conjunction with the Annerville 10K Run fundraiser for Clonmel Athletic Club. the Walk/Run will start at the CTI, The Mall at 2pm and proceed down the Waterford Road via Sir Thomas’s Bridge, Coleville Road, Loreto Convent, Dungarvan Road Roundabout, Presentation Convent, Irishtown and finish in O’Connell Street.
Entries will be taken at The Technical School, The Mall, and a subscription of 10 euro would be appreciated.
John Falvey is helping in a small way to organise the Cystic Fibrosis part of the run/walk. For the last 2 years he dressed up as Superman and ran in the race, Last year 6 people dressed up and there was a great atmosphere during the run. So John and Co., are trying to get /encourage more people to dress up in some bit of Fancy dress and run and have a laugh while raising funds.
At the moment they have Transition Year students from the High School and the Loreto helping to raise funds and run in fancy dress. Also friends and family of John’s are putting their ideas together and coming up with good costumes to run in.
He even managed to talk a couple of people from last year to repeat their performance again this year. They have been surprised with the amount of interest in this idea and so thanks to some very generous sponsors they actually have prizes for the Best Female Costume, and Female runner up, Best Male Costume, and Male runner up.
Fergal O’Keefe from Hearn’s Hotel has given tickets to Neil Delamere as a prize.
Michael Kelly of M.K. Sports has given a gift voucher for their shop in O’Connell St. as a prize.
Annie Hahessy of Annies Hair Salon in Queen St. has donated a voucher for her salon as a prize.
We would like to thank very much these kind and generous donations.
We all know times are hard at the moment but if people dress up, go out on the streets of Clonmel to help raise funds for Cystic Fibrosis and have fun, laugh and enjoy ourselves, then it will be brill.
Sponsorship cards can be had from Michael at 052 61 23492; Mandy at 052 61 23096 or Catherine at 0504 24708. All money raised from the walk will go to the Cystic Fibrosis Association. So come along and support this worthy cause.
