Sunshine and smiles at Camphill Summer Fair
The annual Summer Fair held at the Grangemockler Camphill Community was a huge success, attracting many visitors from the local area and beyond.
People hunted for bargains at the bric-a-brac stalls, bought plants grown on the farm, visited the weaving workshop and enjoyed the delights of home-baked cakes in the tea room.
There were raffles and competitions, face painting, games and sporting challenges for the children and waffles cooked to order as local traditional musicians played throughout the afternoon.
This fundraiser will enhance the facilities in the Grangemockler Camphill Community, founded in 1988, in response to a parish group who wanted a caring centre in their area for adults with special needs.
Four houses have been built on the 40 acre mixed farm which has evolved over the years to suit the residents, all of whom have helped to make it the dynamic and creative community it is today accommodating 46 people, including 21 adults with special needs.
The workshops around the houses include farm, horticultural and weaving workshops where the Community grow and produce fresh vegetables, plants and herbs and create unique crafts, assisted by people from the local area.
Grangemockler Camphill Community greatly appreciates the help they have had in building up and maintaining their community and thank their local friends, neighbours and the wider community for their continued valued support throughout the years. Visitors are always welcome.
