Lisa McHugh must surely be one of Ireland’s busiest recording artistes. She has already achieved success with a number of singles including ‘The Court of Love’ and ‘Old Fashioned Girl’ and now her new offering, ‘A Mother’s Rosary’ looks like taking her further up the popularity charts.
It’s a catchy number to which Lisa lends her own inimitable treatment and she will be performing the song as part of her repertoire when she appears with her band at Kilcoran Lodge Hotel, Cahir on Saturday week next, November 26.
‘A Mother’s Rosary’ has been written by her band leader and piano player, Ray McLoughlin who was with Daniel O’Donnell for eighteen years.
Her earlier album ‘Old Fashioned Girl’ created quite a stir in country music circles but Lisa continues to challenge herself to bring out even better material. “I am always on the lookout for quality songs – I place a very strong emphasis on recording the right numbers, “ she told The Nationalist.
Lisa has won a number of awards over the past eighteen months and has appeared on a number of top-flight television shows. But, she is happiest when she is performing on stage with her band and that’s why she is relishing her return to Kilcoran Lodge Hotel on Saturday, November 26 where we had a very enjoyable night on our last visit. “The fact that our record is just released coincides perfectly with our appearance there, “ Lisa smiles.
Within a comparatively short period of time she has established herself as one of the top drawing country acts in Ireland but she has no intention of resting on her laurels.
“We have a new Christmas single coming out shortly and I am very excited about this as I honestly feel that it will broaden my horizon, “ Lisa concluded.
