Carrick on Suir Musical Society will host a launch party for its new musical production “All Shook Up” in the Strand Theatre bar on Friday, November 18 at 7.30pm.
Musical Society press secretary Padraig Sheehan said they were looking for new people to join the Society for this show, particularly men though new female talent is also required.
“We are planning this night to be a party as well as a launch because this new musical is going to be fun and we want to start as we mean to go on,” he told The Nationalist.
He explained that “All Shook Up” is a new musical, a hilarious comedy built around the songs made famous by Elvis Presley and based on William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. It tells the story of a small town girl with big dreams and the motorcycle-riding stud she falls for.
“For this show, we are looking for new people to join the Society especially men and maybe some past members to rejoin,” said Mr Sheehan.
“At the moment the girls outnumber the men by at least five to one, which are great odds for a man looking for a date but quite a challenge for our director Liam Butler to cast.
“Musically this is a really great show with lots of dancing and comedy.
“The cast is very diverse with parts for people of all ages and requires a really strong chorus,” he continued. Although rehearsing for any show takes a bit of work and commitment we are really looking forward to this one, it promises to be great fun on and off the stage.”
Mr Sheehan pointed out that only rules for joining the Society for this show is that you must be over 16 years old and not in an exam year.
