Gospel Sounds are being heard in Tipperary and afar

Gospel Sounds was born in October 2010 when a group of 9 enthusiastic singers were seeking a musical director. Under the baton of Suzanne Buttimer it has grown and evolved into a choir of up to 30 voices singing in three part harmony. The repertoire list ranges from Mozart to Mamma Mia! The g roup is a community choir- embracing all kinds (and varying musical abilities).

The name simply refers to the first songs that the original nine liked to sing! The group enjoy performing in the locality.

The group collaborated with Cahir Choral Society and Tipperary Gospel Choir in Cahir castle, and supported Michael English and Milliken University choir on their tours, filled the Main Guard twice; with proceeds for the Mayor’s fund this Christmas, sang for residents in Rathkeevin nursing home, provided the entertainment at Kilcoran Lodge’s wedding fair, welcomed Santa at the Showgrounds to name but a few gigs.

‘Gospel Sounds’ efforts and achievements have been acknowledged by the Association of Irish Choirs and the Arts Council and they received funding in 2012. This resulted in the superb BUGLEBABES workshop held in Raheen house recently. The group worked on presentation and performance technique.

The hard work paid off as the group were placed second in Feis Maitui on 03/02/13 where the adjudicator complimented the group on “a well designed performance.”
