One of Clonmel’s traffic wardens is making a name for himself in an unusual way.

Traffic warden John Walsh features in a range of Christmas cards which are in huge demand at Carris newsagency in O’Connell Street.

The cards were designed by photographer Caitriona Kenny, our Nationalist correspondent in Tipperary Town, who was doing a photo shot with Santa in Clonmel when she invited John Walsh to stand into a picture.

“Two weekends ago I did the Clonmel Park Hotel Christmas Fair and it was great fun seeing people walk up to the stall and recognise ‘John Walsh’ and then proceed to tell me who they would send the card to and why with stories of parking tickets. I sold out on the day and continue to keep up with demand from other shops,” said Caitriona.

Caitriona has also designed other Christmas cards featuring for Clonmel featuring local landmarks but the traffic warden one is the most popular.

Eason in Clonmel, Allens and Bergins are also selling the cards.

“I’ve achieved something impossible - made a traffic warden popular,” said Caitriona.
