Puppeteer and artist Des Dillon and comedian Jon Kenny will stage their new theatre show “Mag Mell” combining puppetry, music and drama at Carrick-on-Suir’s Strand Theatre on Friday, September 20 at 8pm.

The show features both Kenny and Dillon as well as puppeteer Benny McCarthy and Conal O’Grada, who are both musicians and composers.

Its plot centres on local councillor and developer PJ Foley, who inadvertently chooses the island of Mag Mell for his latest business venture and his meeting with the Wise Woman starts a chain of events with life changing results. The show examines what happens when the 21st century’s greed and materialism is confronted by the ancient wisdom of the Wise Woman.

Mag Mell’s originators are joined on stage by bodhran player Colm Murphy, fiddler player and former young musician of the year Ciaran O’Maonaigh, concertina player and award winning Riverdance dancer Caitlin Nic Gabhan and actor and singer/songwriter Ann Blake. Tickets cost €20 and can be booked at the Strand Theatre at (051) 645050.
