Carrick’s Brewery Lane to stage ‘The Freedom of the City’

Brewery Lane Theatre will stage Brian Friel’s play ‘The Freedom of the City’ from November 22 to 29.

Brewery Lane Theatre will stage Brian Friel’s play ‘The Freedom of the City’ from November 22 to 29.

The play is set in Derry in the aftermath of a Civil Rights meeting in the early 1970s when 3 protesters find themselves in the Mayor’s office in the Guildhall taking refuge from tear gas and rubber bullets.

Colm Power is director and the cast includes: Pat Bolger, Neil Bourke, Nathan Sandison, Gerry Fitzgerald, Eugene O’Keefe, Peter McGrath, Catherine Whelan, Margaret St. John, Evan Power, Eoin O’Reilly, Tom Nealon, Colm Power, Walter Dunphy and Kevin Power.

Ticket booking opens at the Heritage Centre, Main St (051) 640200 this Friday for patrons and Friday, November 14 for general public. The play starts at 8.15 pm, admission is €15 and refreshments will be offered during break.
