Olwyn Boyle plays a supporting female lead role in Seven Songs for Amy, which will be filmed mostly in the west of Ireland next August and September.

The film is a romantic comedy that follows the plight of a Galway musician who writes an album for the girl he was supposed to marry, in a bid to win her back from the arms of a global pop star. Along the way he is helped and hindered by his idiosyncratic band members.

Seven Songs for Amy will be directed by BAFTA and EMMY nominated Konrad Begg (whose credits include Crimes That Shook The World and Top Gear) and will be produced by Fiona Graham under the banner of Sonny and Skye Productions.

The associate producer is Ford Kiernan, one of Scotland’s most prominent comedians who also has the role of Sled the Drummer.

The best-known member of the cast is Patrick Bergin, who appeared alongside Julia Roberts in Sleeping With The Enemy 20 years ago.

The cast also includes trad musician Kevin Ryan (who appeared in Laredo and Days of Our Lives) and Gavin Mitchell.

Olwyn is daughter of Carmel and Matty Boyle, Mountain Road. She has recently been seen regularly on television screens on TV3’s dating show Take Me Out.

She moved to Dublin some years ago to pursue an acting career and has appearances in Fair City, Desperate Houses and on comedian Katherine Lynch’s show to her credit.

She returned to college last September to study counselling and youth work at the Liberties College in Dublin. For the last number of years she has also worked occasionally as a clown doctor at the Crumlin Children’s Hospital.

Olwyn has recently been signed to Upfront Management, which she describes as “a really exciting” development in her career.
