Shops in Carrick will deck their front windows in special “Evita” themed displays this week as the local Musical Society reports a big demand for tickets for the hit musical.

A shop window display competition is one of the novel ways Carrick Musical Society is promoting its upcoming show at The Strand Theatre that opens on March 1.

Judges from the Musical Society will view the decked out shop windows this week and the winning business will receive a trophy and free tickets to Evita.

The Society has done its own shop window display of a scene illustrating the Evita song “Goodnight and Thank You”. It’s in a premises beside Clery’s Newsagents on Main Street. The Society will also be putting up posters featuring the show’s lead characters in costume around the town centre this week.

Meanwhile, Musical Society PRO Caolan Deehy-Power says tickets sales for the show are going very well. There was a queue of people outside the Strand Theatre on the first day the tickets went on sale last week.
