A variety concert, in aid of St. Vincent’s Day Care Centre took place in the Marion Hall with an array of entertainment.

The Badgers opened the concert playing jigs and reels followed by beautiful harmonious tunes from the Barber shop group.

Thirteen year-old Sean Smith, (Galbally Road) who won the Junior A-Factor run by the Abbey CBS four weeks ago sang, All I Want by Kodaline and seventeen year-old Donough Crowe (Galbally Road), inspired the audience to sing along to The Galway Girl and Wagon Wheel.

Ten-year old Leona Ryan recited poetry; Angela’s Ashes by Frank McCourt and The Winning Goal by Noel Joyce. Rachel Breen from Donaskeigh performed, The Parting Glass and The Devil in the Sky by Elvis.

Alicia Franks and Alison Kelly performed a Slip Jig, Heavy Jig and Two-Hand beautifully.

Pat Ryan and The Stuttering Lovers, performed by Anne Lonegan, Agnus Crosse, Deloras Madden and Anne O’Dwyer, had the audience laughing with their comedic talent and Padraig MacKessey entertained the audience with some fine mouth organ tunes. Denis Lynch and Kieran Hickey sang and rounded off a great singsong finish at the end of the concert.

Much-loved Tipperary lady Anne O’Dwyer has been organising the annual variety concert for nearly thirty years. “It’s a great night with great entertainers and they are so good to come and perform for charity. You just ask them to come and they jump on board.”
