Sheila Wood started work on Sunday painting a mural on hoarding surrounding Cooney’s Bar (popularly known as Clegg’s) on Main Street where the celebrated hoard of 17th century gold coins were discovered in January.

The mural featuring Carrick-on-Suir’s clock tower captures this year’s Festival graphic artwork designed by Claire O’Regan. This canvas will become an interactive art project for young children during the festival

Meanwhile, artists Susan Sayers and Paul Ryan have begun “Yarn Bombing” the town’s trees and street furniture covering them with colourful knitted wool fabric.
