The Cashel Palace Hotel was the scene for South Tipperary Positive Ageing Committees first Fashion Show on September 26. The show was organised as part of a week long series of events do highlight positive ageing.

The event was coordinated to an impressive standard by June Moloney and attracted over 100 people for a bit of glitz and glamour.

Chair of the committee Richard Long said that ‘“he purpose of the week is to show that ageing is not something to fear, but something to celebrate.”

The central aim of Positive Ageing week is to dispel the many negative perceptions that surround ageing and to transform attitudes towards ageing and older people. We need to celebrate the fact that we are living longer and that ageing is not a burden but an opportunity. The week is supported and sponsored by Age Action Ireland, ESB Electric Ireland and South Tipperary County Council.

The elegant models on the evening included the Tipperary Rose Noreen Ryan, Sr. Mary Walsh, Una O’Donoghue, Geraldine McGan, Mary Frances Griffen, Cllr Maribel Woods, Ann Conolly, Joan Ryan, Deputy Mattie McGrath, Cllr Michael Fitzgerald, Philly Ryan, Richard Long, Paul Monks, Kenny Ryan and Tony, and they all added to the nights atmosphere and success.

The models showcased designs from local stores, Daverns, O’Dwyers, Golden Threads, The Kilkenny Shop and Noel Fahy Shoes. Music on the night was provided by Stefan Grace and DJ Chris Corstin. Indeed the Fashion Show will be the talk of the town for weeks to come.

The whole night was an astounding success and the committee would like to thank all those who contributed to the fashion show in any way, those who donated spot prizes, all who helped behind the scenes on the night, the dressers, the girls on hair and make up, those who sold raffle tickets, the staff of Cashel Palace Hotel and especially June Moloney for her time and expertise that she gave to the event.
