Evita poster contest winner announced

A Fifth year student at Scoil Mhuire Secondary School has won an art competition to design a poster for Carrick-on-Suir Musical Society’s spring show Evita.

Sarah Flynn’s winning poster is on display in the foyer of the Strand Theatre and five copies of her poster advertising the show now adorn lamp posts on Carrick’s Main Street.

Carrick-on-Suir Musical Society PRO Caolan Deehy-Power said Sarah’s entry was magnificent and congratulated her on winning the contest and thank all the students from local secondary schools who submitted entries. Sarah’s prize was tickets to Evita and the use of her poster in the advertising campaign for the show.

Meanwhile, the Evita cast are putting the final touches on their preparations for the show, which begins its 8 night run this Saturday, March 1.

The Society is looking for a local trainee or qualified hairdresser to give up some of their time to do hair styles suitable for the period Evita is set for the cast’s female performers.
