Clonmel Commercials Gaelic football club got their annual talent contest Clonmel’s Got Talent off to a flying start last weekend, with the preliminary rounds for primary schools.

Now in its third year, the competition goes from strength to strength and if last Friday and Saturday night are anything to go by 2014 may be the best yet.

Over 100 children from several schools in the area displayed their talents to an appreciative audience and equally appreciative judges at the wonderful setting of the White Memorial Theatre. Singers, dancers, ballad groups, rap artists and gymnasts all took the stage and provided tremendous entertainment.

The results of the preliminary rounds will be posted to all competitors this week, with the lucky qualifiers entering the competition on March 7/8 at the semi-final stage. At this stage also the secondary schools will join the competition.

There will be in the region of 20 to 25 acts in each section, which is sure to provide some outstanding entertainment for people who wish to come along and see the very best young artistic talent the area has to offer.

In 2012 Clonmel Commercials dipped their toe in the water by organising the first Clonmel’s Got Talent. So positive was the reaction that they have continued with the competition, which is now the leading such competition in the area.

Last year’s final was a terrific affair and it’s expected that the 2014 final on March 14 will be a highlight for many budding artists.

The admission for the semi-final is just €5, with tickets available at the door.
