Following another hugely entertaining and vibrant season of shows the team at Stagecraft Youth Theatre are opening their doors again to new members. Stagecraft are enrolling for the next season of workshops on this Thursday, 20th September from 6.30-8pm at The Hub, 49, Albert Street, Clonmel. Current members have to re-register to continue with activities for the forthcoming year.

Stagecraft can accept young people from the age of 6 to 21 years and are also accepting participants for their first ever programme for adult actors. Their drama programmes have been running since 1998 and are renowned for their child-centred and fun approach to theatre-making. Their drama workshops culminate in the full-scale theatre productions, which are an ideal opportunity to showcase the recently-acquired skills with family and friends.

The group wants to ensure that young people in Clonmel have access to affordable arts facilities and are given an opportunity to hone their skills in a friendly and professional environment, and this course will be run by staff director Aislinn Mc Cabe. The adult programme is aimed at actors who have some experience but wish to further their skills in theatre and acting. This intensive ten-week programme will be run by Amy Hill, who also runs Stagecraft’s schools programme.

Stagecraft is one of the biggest youth theatres in Ireland and the company has continued to produce a mix of new work as well as classic revivals. The dedication to the group nature of theatre is what makes the work of Stagecraft unique; the emphasis is always on the team . This philosophy is reflected in every aspect of the work and creates an environment where young people can truly blossom. Stagecraft are about to launch their acting agency for young people with a view to their members attaining work in professional theatre, film and TV. Stagecraft’s former members have gone on to work as actors, directors and writers, and the company has proven to be a launching pad into the creative arts for the last 14 years.
