Photographer Agata Stoinska and producer/art director Eddie Shanahan set their Wilderness project at the edge of the clouds high in the Knockmealdown mountains - where ribbons of green velvety moss drip from wind tortured trees, where silver streams cascade violently through karst cut loose as far back as the ice age, where the black mirror surfaces of corries and lakes reflect the ever changing sky.

Exploring captivating landscapes, indigenous textures, poetic imagination and inspiring heritage Wilderness celebrates the craftsmanship of a diverse group of designers, weavers, goldsmiths, ceramicists, knitters, leather-workers and milliners in an edgy contemporary declaration of our innovative spirit. Many were commissioned to make special pieces for the project.

The images are innovative, edgy, raw and beautiful.

Agata Stoinska trained as an architect before commencing a career in photography in 2003. In the summer of 2010 she launched the international photo magazine BLOW. This large format image-based publication features both emerging and established photographers from around the world. BLOW was awarded the Overall Print of the Year Award 2010 at the Irish Print Awards.

Agata herself is the winner of the annual Dublin City Female Entrepreneur Awards. In 2009 she won the ‘Rising Star’ Award 2009 and she was the winner of the Most Improved Business Award 2010.

Eddie Shanahan is Chair of the Council of Irish Fashion Designers and counts Irish and international designers as clients.

He has a unique perspective on both fashion and craft, honed through his work with the CIFD, the Crafts Council of Ireland and Enterprise Ireland. He has produced major fashion shows in Ireland, UK, France, Italy, Belgium and USA.

Stoinska & Shanahan previously worked together on ADORNMENT – an exhibition of photographs that was staged in Cork, Dublin, Leitrim and Westmeath. It also received extensive national publicity.

Their work has been described as ‘worthy of Italian Vogue’ by Constance Harris at the Sunday independent.
