The Fr Matthew Players, New-Inn, will perform the stage play of the classic “Les Miserables,” in the Community Centre, New Inn, from Thursday, February 7, to Sunday, February 10.
This is a two-act drama adapted by Tim Kelly from the novel by Victor Hugo, with the permission of Dramatic Publishing.
Already acclaimed as the most popular musical of our times, and the subject of several documentaries and films, the most recent of which was released this January with a further new departure in its interpretation into a musical film, and is proving to be box office gold boasting a cast of stars in the mix.
However New-Inn is not short of stars for Fr Matthew’s production of “Les Mis”, either.
The hardworking and large cast are putting the finishing touches to what promises to be a top performance from a cast of stalwarts, and very welcome newcomers, who will conspire to bring you everything you would expect from this group, and from the story itself.
This gripping new version, with a cast of 30 and true to the original story, takes us back to nineteenth century France and the release of the convict Jean Valjean and his relentless pursuit by that paragon of law and order Police Inspector Javert. The script boasts a brilliant cast of characters who weave an exciting tapestry of humankind at its best and worst.
The story is one of forgiveness, hope, tragedy, love lost, love, war and peace, all the ingredients for a gripping nights entertainment.
