Miss Cahir GAA to be crowned at field day

As part of the Cahir Community Challenge week-end Cahir GAA are holding their annual Field Day on Sunday, August 28.

As part of the Cahir Community Challenge week-end Cahir GAA are holding their annual Field Day on Sunday, August 28.

The fun will start from 12.30pm and go on until 5p.m.

The main attraction of the day will be the crowning of the Miss Cahir GAA 2011 competition. As part of this competition there will be a buffet dance held in Cahir House hotel on Friday, August 26, from 9pm to 12midnight where you can come to see the girls being interviewed and you will get a chance to vote for your favourite on the night.

Tickets for this event are just E10 and can be purchased from any GAA member.

There has been a great response to this competition from local businesses and if you still want to enter a young lady between the ages of 18 and 25 please contact Gerardine Hickey at 086/3821953 as soon as possible.

At the annual field day, there will be many side-shows on display throughout the Sunday including U.10 and U.8 matches, slippery pole, pony rides, penalty shoot out, novelty races and for the little ones there will be a “Teddy Bears Picnic” area where the children can bring their teddies and have a good time listening to stories, playing games and having a sing along.

There will also be a baby show and a pet show.

There will be a bric a brac stall where you can bring any of your unwanted items. If you have anything you wish to dispose of please contact Deirdre McEniry or Breda O’Neill on 086/1597719. A new stall for this year will be the handbag and costume jewellery stand. If you wish to get rid of those handbags that have been in your wardrobe for a long time or jewellery that you no longer wear you can drop them in to Margaret O’Connor (086/8774879) or Tara Armitage (086/3896933) For those who feel a bit peckish on the day there will be a barbecue and of course the tea party area where you can sit and have a cuppa with a delicious home made confectionary.

There will also be the finals of the Community Challenge competitions on in the field that day, these will consist of the tug-o-war, obstacle course, scrapheap challenge and it’s a knockout so don’t forget to put the weekend of August 26 to 28 into your diary and a great weekend is definitely guaranteed!
