Stagecraft’s youngest members are preparing for their delightful double bill, Sleeping Beauty and Porky Pies, as 50 young actors will entertain audiences from this evening, Wednesday, 23rd to Saturday, 26th May at The Hub, 49, Albert Street, Clonmel.

Sleeping Beauty is a fresh adaptation of the renowned fairy tale and is performed by the group’s youngest actors, and for many of them this will be their first ever performance.

This is followed by Porky Pies, which is set in a courtroom at the trial of The Big Bag Wolf. Both plays are fast paced, funny and certain to be a roaring success under the watchful direction of Aislinn McCabe, assisted by Lisa O’Brien, with music by Kate Thowig.

Stagecraft was founded in 1998 by current artistic director Shane Dempsey. The youth theatre company has established a long tradition of providing young performers with the highest standards of training and this is encouraged in a fun environment without pressure, where the young people can truly blossom.

Stagecraft is also about to launch its young actors agency, a platform for members to work in professional theatre, film and TV.

The season was launched by the Hannah Burke’s ‘The Duke Of Whats It’ at The Hub, a new rehearsal and studio theatre in Albert Street. The final two productions, Festival by Alan King and Dragon Chaser will be performed by the group’s oldest members and promise to be major theatrical events.

Tickets at €10 are now on sale for Sleeping Beauty and Porky Pies at Premier Music, O’Connell Street, Clonmel. For more information log onto stagecraftyt.com or call Shane on 087-9476968.
