Reading Tree continues to grow at Cahir Library

The Summer Reading Tree scheme continues to grow in Cahir library. Children are encouraged to read a minimum of six books during their school holidays. They will receive a medal and a certificate in September for doing so. Children have free membership in the library once a parent/guardian signs them up. There is still time to join the summer reading tree, all you have to do is read a minimum of six books to get your medal.

The Knit and Natter club meet in the library every Friday morning around 10.30am. Knitting, crochet, embroidery etc are done and old hands needing an excuse to take out the wool and needles again as well as beginners are welcome. There will always be someone to give you a hand if you are in difficulty with a pattern or just want to learn a new skill. It is a very sociable club and you may even get a cup of tea/coffee and a biscuit as well as a chat.

On Thursday afternoons the Card Making Club meet in the library and if you are into making your own greeting cards there are great tips to be had from the ladies.

Tipperary Libraries has a new web site and it is well worth a visit. You can renew your books online and check out our catalogue. Keep up to date with events and exhibitions.

Just before the summer holidays, Marie and Geraldine Byron brought the children from their Play and Learn Montessori on Pearse St, Cahir, for a visit to the library. The children learned to use the pedestrian crossings with Traffic Warden Deirdre Hayes before coming to the library where they had story-time with Linda Robinson and afterwards did some wonderful and unique self-portraits with Tina Looby. Quite a few of the children were already members of the library but the others learned about it and enjoyed their visit. It was a pity it rained heavily on the day but they were all well kitted out for the walk.
