Nenagh was the venue last weekend for the Munster juvenile Indoor Championships. The weekend saw very good performances from club members and it is great to see that their training is going so well at this stage of the season, augurs well for the rest of the year.

On Saturday Phoebe Murphy showed that she has trained well over the winter months when running a brilliant race in the final of the Girls under 16 60m to win in a Personal Best of 7.97 secs. She then went on to complete the sprint double when winning the 200m very convincingly in 26.24 secs, brilliant performances and a great way to get her season off to such a great start.

In the Girls under 17 60m Hurdles Saoirse McGeever put in a great performance when finishing 5th in 10.69 secs. On Saturday we had Chloe Lynch performing very well in the Girls under 16 1500m walk when winning the Gold medal in 8 mins 24.37 secs. In the Girls under 18 walks Alyx Dwyer put in a very good performance when winning the Silver medal in 9 mins 15.29 secs.

On Sunday it was the turn of the Boys in the Walks and in the Boys under 15 we had Alan Boland performing well when winning the Gold medal in 6 mins 5.39 secs, then in the Boys under 16 we had a brilliant 1- 2 with Aaron Egan and Anthony Tobin finishing 1st (6:19.64)and 2nd (6:52.53)respectively. Then in the last walk event of the day Evan Lynch rounded off a brilliant weekend for the walkers when winning the Boys under 18 1500m Walk in 5 mins 58.98 secs, beating the old record set by Olympian Jamie Costin in 1995 by over 7seconds.

It was also great to see Club members performing well in the middle distances. In the Girls under 18 1500m Orlaith Moynihan ran very well when winning the title impressively in 5 mins 14.62 secs with Laura Tobin winning the Bronze medal in 5 mins 20 secs. In the Girls under 18 400m Roisin Cleary ran very well when wining the Gold medal in 62.19 secs with Megan O Brien winning the Bronze medal in 66.98 secs.
