Noel Cairns from Clonmel, singing what was described as a fantastic version of Neil Diamond’s Love On The Rocks, was a deserved winner of the Karaoke 1,000 competition, the final of which was held last Saturday night at The Brewery Bar in Mulcahy’s, Clonmel.

Noel, who won €1,000 for his troubles, brought the house down with his encore, Sweet Caroline.

Panic and fear was evident as the finalists waited their turn to perform.

Fifteen singers took part in the final, all of whom sang one song in the heats and one in the final.

The judge was Andy Mac from Beat FM and what a task he had, as the standard was very high.

Song choices were very important, as was the overall performance. The scoring was divided into three sections - one for the voice, another for audience interaction and a third for the audience reaction.

A very big crowd turned out in support of these very brave contestants all the way through the competition. The final was a huge success and everybody had a great time, with a party/disco following the announcement of the result.

The organisers Mynt promotions thank all who came to show support for the acts; to the publicans for hosting the heats and the final; and everybody who took part in the competition from the beginning to the very end.

It all started on August 17 at Mulcahys Bar with the first heat, with further heats taking place over the following weeks at Friends Bar, Bernie Macs and The Railway Bar.
